This sommerso glass vase, attributed to Vicke Lindstrand for the Swedish Kosta glassworks in the 1950s, exemplifies the distinctive aesthetics of Scandinavian mid-century modernism. The vase’s smooth, oval silhouette and flattened profile are crafted from thick, heavy glass (2.3 kg), showcasing the craftsmanship of the era. Its color composition features a deep navy blue core encased in a pale grey layer, all enveloped by a clear, polished exterior. The surface is glossy and highly polished, while the transitions between the color layers remain seamless and fluid. With proportions of 14 cm in width, 15.5 cm in height, and 6 cm in depth, the vase achieves a sculptural, jewel-like presence that reflects Scandinavian explorations in form during the 1950s and 60s. Signed “Kosta 01825” on the base. The condition is very good: no chips or cracks, only minor wear and light scratches consistent with age, which do not detract from the overall impression.
