This monumental early 20th-century school library cabinet from Warsaw is crafted from solid pine wood, its commanding dimensions (202 × 248 × 47 cm) defining a two-part structure: the upper section features six tall, glazed doors with clear glass panels in robust wooden frames, behind which are adjustable shelves supported by a traditional wooden system; the lower section is concealed behind six solid panel doors, each fitted with understated black metal escutcheons and hinges. The cabinet rests on a sturdy plinth base. Characterised by restrained lines and balanced proportions, the design reflects the late historicist and early modernist styles typical of institutional furniture from the era. The surface, finished with wood oil, reveals a warm, honey-hued grain marked by visible knots and natural variations.
