ABOUT PRODUCTID 31828
This 1960s teak secretary desk, designed by Gunnar Nielsen for Tibergaard, exemplifies Scandinavian mid-century modern design. Crafted in warm, medium-brown teak with a subtle reddish undertone, it features a matte-to-satin finish that highlights the natural wood grain and provides a smooth, refined surface. The structure stands on four tapered legs, giving the piece a light, elevated silhouette, while the clean, geometric lines are softened by gentle side curves. The front is fitted with three spacious drawers, each with integrated, sculpted wooden handles – a hallmark of Danish furniture from this era. The drop-down writing flap is flush with the main body when closed, maintaining a cohesive appearance. There is a small discoloration and slight wear on the upper edge of the flap, and two minor veneer repairs have been made. The desk is in good vintage condition, with minor signs of use typical for the 1960s. The form of this secretary desk tells a story of Nordic simplicity and practicality from the 1960s. The tactile teak surface speaks to an era that valued authenticity and longevity. Sculpted handles and seamless transitions between elements reveal the craftsmanship of the period – here, the spirit of mid-century modernism is evident
