This sentimental locket, crafted in the Austro-Hungarian Empire around 1890–1900, represents the elegant spirit of geometric Art Nouveau. Its softly rounded elliptical form is made of gold-plated brass (double technique), resulting in a warm, understated yellow-gold hue. The matte to satin surface is subtly highlighted on raised sections and finely engraved with a vertical dotted stripe culminating in a stylized bow, adorned with a faceted deep pink-red stone—likely a ruby or ruby glass. This single gem provides the only accent color, set slightly below the main axis, and is accompanied by an upper swirling motif in keeping with the era’s simplified, organic lines.
