This late 19th-century sentimental locket represents classic Victorian jewelry, made of gold-plated brass using the doublé technique. Its elliptical form, softened by gently rounded edges, creates harmonious proportions and discreet beauty. The front is adorned with a raised floral motif – a central round pearl set in a six-petal gold flower, with textured petals offering contrast against a matte, slightly muted gold background. The surface testifies to its age, with visible wear to the gilding, subtle patina, discoloration, and fine scratches, all contributing to its authentic, historical character. A hinge on the left side allows the locket to open like a tiny book, revealing space for two photographs. The bail is fully integrated into the body, while visible soldering at the hinge and edges highlights solid craftsmanship. Produced in Austria circa 1890–1900.
