This serving dish from VEB Steingutwerk Torgau, produced in 1950s Germany, embodies the distinctive language of mid-century modern design. Handmade from porcelain, it features an elongated, geometric form with a subtle, hexagonal outline and gently upturned, faceted rims. The surface is finished in a warm, creamy off-white with a subtle, speckled satin-matte glaze, which imparts a gentle, organic quality to the piece. The center is decorated with a minimalist, hand-painted geometric motif: three rectangular fields—two in pastel blue and one in mustard yellow—interlaced with thin brown vertical stripes, punctuated by dots and circles typical of postwar design. A hand-applied brown line traces the rim, underlining the play of geometric contours. The underside bears the factory mark used until 1967, affirming its period authenticity and artisanal character. The condition is very good: only natural signs of use in the glaze, with no cracks or chips.
