ABOUT PRODUCTID 4746
This oval serving dish, produced by the J. Fraget manufactory in Warsaw between 1860 and 1893, is a refined example of 19th-century silver-plated tableware. Crafted from white brass and tin and expertly silver-plated, it displays a bright, cool tone and a mirror-like surface that subtly reflects light. The historicist style of the period is evident in the continuous beaded (pearl) ornament along the edge and the ornate, cast handles adorned with floral and scroll motifs, blending neoclassical and baroque influences in a harmonious composition. The elongated oval form rests on four spherical feet, ensuring stability and emphasizing the dish’s balanced proportions. The surface is smooth, with precise repoussé work and carefully integrated details, showing no signs of wear or damage. Condition: excellent, with a glossy finish and no dents or abrasion. This dish embodies the spirit of 19th-century Warsaw—a time when shared meals were a daily ritual and tableware played a central role in social gatherings. The silvery surface and beaded ornament evoke an air of elegance, while the finely wrought details seem to whisper stories of candlelit evenings, gentle conversation, and the subtle clink of porcelain. Though formal in outline, the gentle curves and decorative accents suggest a desire to unite tradition with understated embellishment, quietly witnessing the passage of generations. Today, this dish can be displayed as a table centerpiece or on a sideboard in the living room, where its silvery sheen will complement natural wood, dark textiles, or glass. It pairs beautifully with understated porcelain, crystal glasses, or candleholders of similar provenance. In eclectic interiors with historic accents or collector’s studies, it brings an element of genuine narrative
