These antique serving tongs, crafted by the Warsaw manufactory Fraget around 1860, are made from brass and finished with a silver-plated, galvanic layer. The construction is solid, with carefully executed joints and no evidence of modern repairs. The design features a highly decorative, openwork structure adorned with grapevine and leaf motifs, typical of mid-19th-century historicist style and distinctly influenced by Rococo aesthetics. The handles curve symmetrically and are embellished with oval and floral cutouts, lending the piece a sense of lightness and refinement. The gripping ends are shaped like shells, with detailed relief work and a smooth, slightly concave interior. The dominant color is a cool silver, subtly warmed by golden hues where the plating has worn. The original Fraget maker’s mark confirms authenticity.
