This large rectangular serving tray, crafted in Vienna at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, is made from brass plated with silver and measures 77 × 49 cm. The surface is finished in a cool, silvery tone with a subtle warm undertone and polished to a high gloss, allowing light to reflect with the intensity characteristic of fine metals. The entire tray is adorned with an intricate guilloché pattern—a delicate, repetitive wavy motif that transitions seamlessly into a central medallion decorated with vegetal and scroll elements. At the center lies a blank cartouche intended for a monogram. The edges are gently rounded and defined by a pronounced, triple-molded rim, while the robust, organically shaped handles reference the flowing lines of late historicism and early Art Nouveau. The maker’s mark from a Viennese workshop is located on the underside of one handle. The tray is preserved in very good condition—only minimal signs of use are visible, with no dents or deep scratches.This tray evokes the refined spirit of turn-of-the-century Vienna, when the ritual of coffee service was itself an art and a mark of urban sophistication.
