ABOUT PRODUCTID 4376
A set of six uranium crystal glasses from the Józefina glassworks (Szklarska Poręba), produced in the 1930s, presents a striking example of Polish Art Deco glassmaking. Each glass stands 7.5 cm tall with a diameter of 7 cm and is made from transparent, cool-toned lime-green uranium glass. The machine-cut, faceted bases are square in outline and transition smoothly into sharply conical bowls, adorned with vertical, planar cuts. The geometric, symmetrical forms and bold proportions embody the modernist spirit of the period, while the glossy, polished surface enhances the clarity and brilliance of the material. The uranium glass displays its hallmark property of glowing vividly under UV light, with the color appearing more saturated in the base and lighter, more translucent in the bowl. The set is preserved in excellent condition—free from chips, scratches, or signs of restoration. These glasses echo the narrative of the 1930s, an era when uranium glass captivated the modern salons and cafés of Europe. The angular cuts and symmetry recall a time when applied arts balanced ornament and function, while the daring color—like a luminous note—emphasized the progressive spirit of everyday rituals. In daylight, the glass presents a gentle green hue, but under ultraviolet light, it comes alive, momentarily transporting one to the vibrant scenes of interwar soirées and gatherings. The set may be displayed in a classic
