ABOUT PRODUCTID 20420
This set of two decorative ceramic vessels, designed by Eke Bjerény for Gabriel Keramika in Sweden during the 1960s, exemplifies the artisanal approach to form and material typical of Scandinavian modernism. The pieces are crafted from ceramic in a warm, earthy brown with a matte, grainy surface that is contrasted by a deep, glossy black glaze on the upper rims and lower portions. The vase, measuring 14 × 14 cm, stands on three rounded feet, emphasizing stability and a mid-century modern flair, while the bowl (16 × 4.5 cm) features a continuous band of geometric and circular motifs around the rim. Both vessels are adorned with hand-incised decorations: the vase displays vertical lines ending in spirals and circles, and the bowl is embellished with repeating geometric ornaments. Authenticity is confirmed by the attribution mark on the bowl. The condition is very good, with no visible damage, chips, or restoration marks. These vessels evoke the spirit of the 1960s, when Scandinavian modernism often drew from ethnic and folk art influences. The matte, textured ceramic recalls the atmosphere of a craftsman's studio, where the tactile quality and traces of handwork are valued, while the glossy black glaze on the edges seems to invite light for a fleeting dance. The forms and patterns, though understated, carry echoes of tradition and also reflect the era’s openness to experimentation—almost as if the vessels quietly tell of reverence for nature and imagination. The set can be placed on a low sideboard made
