ABOUT PRODUCTID 16264
This set of four famille rose plates from the Tongzhi period (1861–1875), late Qing dynasty, exemplifies 19th-century Chinese porcelain, crafted from fine white ceramic with a smooth, glossy glaze. Each shallow dish features hand-painted floral compositions—peonies and lotus blossoms woven with slender, curling stems and highlighted with occasional butterflies. The color palette includes vibrant pinks, soft greens, rich emerald, warm orange, yellow, and delicate black, all applied in translucent enamel layers typical of the famille rose style. The motifs on each plate differ subtly in arrangement and density, reflecting the individualized artistry of hand-decoration. The edges are without gilding, drawing attention to the intricate central paintings. The set maintains authentic patina—minor chips along the rims, at least one visible hairline crack, localized darkening or pitting in the glaze, and the natural wear to be expected from 19th-century utilitarian ceramics. Condition: displays visible signs of use and age, with no restoration, characteristic for original antiques.
