This set of six figural knife rests, attributed to the renowned German manufacturer WMF, dates from circa 1890–1910, reflecting the artistic vitality of late historicism and early Art Nouveau. Each piece is crafted from silver-plated brass or white metal, chosen for its durability and refined luster. The supports feature pairs of animals—dogs, lions, goats, and possibly pigs or bears—joined by faceted horizontal bars. The cool, silvery tone with a subtle, aged patina and a matte finish punctuated by gentle highlights on raised surfaces emphasizes the collectible nature of the set. The proportions are harmonious; the animals display lifelike, dynamic poses, with a fine, almost fur-like texture, while the connecting bars are smooth and faceted.
