This set of five Model 4867 chairs, designed by Joe Colombo for Kartell in 1979, embodies Italian Space Age design. Each chair is crafted from injection-molded polycarbonate in a vivid, high-gloss red. The construction is monolithic, with smoothly rounded edges and a distinctive rectangular cut-out in the backrest, characteristic of Colombo’s futuristic vision. The legs are wide and slightly flared, seamlessly integrated into the seat and back, giving each chair a compact, balanced silhouette and soft, organic geometry without sharp angles. The glossy surface reflects light, accentuating the sculptural form. These chairs are stackable for added practicality, with seamless construction and no visible joints or fasteners, highlighting the advanced molding techniques of late 1970s Kartell. The surface shows minor signs of use, such as scratches and scuffs typical of vintage furniture, but no major damage. The set is preserved in good original condition.
