ABOUT PRODUCTID 36508
This set of five ICE CUBES wall sconces, designed by Ludwig Beilharz for German manufacturer Muller & Zimmer in the 1970s, exemplifies the Space Age style with a minimalist, sculptural approach. Each sconce is crafted from thick, transparent glass with a distinctive 'ice glass' texture—full of bubbles and irregularities, evoking the appearance of natural ice crystals. The shades are precise, geometric cubes measuring 12 × 12 × 6.5 cm and weighing 1.6 kg each. A central circular recess accommodates an E14 bulb socket, and there are no visible metal fittings on the front, reinforcing the monolithic, architectural look. The set is in good vintage condition: some sconces show minor, hard-to-detect chips that blend into the glass's natural structure, while others are in very good condition. All pieces are technically functional and have been refreshed, retaining their original character. The listed price applies to the complete set of five sconces. These wall lights evoke the cool, futuristic spirit of the 1970s—a time fascinated by space exploration and new materials. Each glass block plays with light, creating shifting reflections and refracted patterns through its ice-like structure, as if capturing fragments of a wintry landscape within. The minimalist design emphasizes the architectural vision of the designer, allowing the interplay of light and material to take center stage. The ICE CUBES set can be displayed on a matte, uniform wall in a living room
