This set of four bar stools from the 1970s exemplifies German brutalism, where materiality and construction define the aesthetic. Each stool is crafted from hand-forged iron with an almost black, matte patina, displaying visible hammer marks and welds that create a deliberately unrefined, irregular surface. The seats are upholstered in genuine leather in a warm, mid-brown shade, with a matte texture and gentle creasing characteristic of authentic hide. The seat edges are finished with a row of upholstery nails, highlighting the artisanal detail. Two heavy iron chains—one at the base, another at mid-height—serve both structural and decorative roles, forming a distinctive conical silhouette. The proportions are bold and geometric, with slightly splayed legs, and the overall impression is one of substantial material presence.
