ABOUT PRODUCTID 34461
This set of four original 'Jamaica' swivel bar stools, designed by Pepe Cortès for BD Barcelona in the late 20th century, is a striking example of minimalist Spanish design from the 1990s. Each stool features a sculpted, saddle-shaped seat crafted from beechwood in a warm honey tone with a subtle satin sheen. The visible wood grain and smoothly contoured surface emphasize the natural character of the material while providing ergonomic comfort. The bases, made from polished chrome-plated steel, display five slender, splayed legs connected by two circular footrests at different heights, contributing to both visual lightness and structural stability. The set is preserved in very good vintage condition, showing only minor signs of use such as slight surface scratches on the chrome and minimal patina on the wood—characteristic of well-cared-for period pieces. The price is for the complete set of four. These stools narrate the spirit of the late 1980s and early 1990s, a time when Spanish design sought to merge ergonomic innovation with visual lightness. Cortès’s signature approach is evident in the soft, sculptural shaping of each seat, while the reflective chrome base captures ambient light, highlighting the industrial edge of late 20th-century interiors. Each stool, understated in expression, invites casual gatherings at a bar or kitchen island, offering flexibility and a dynamic sense of space. The 'Jamaica' stools can be paired with industrial pendant lighting, simple solid wood
