The set of four 'Basket' chairs, designed by Gian Franco Legler in Italy during the 1950s and 1960s, exemplifies classic mid-century modern design. The construction combines natural wicker—densely and evenly woven for the seats and backrests—with a minimalist base formed from matte black metal rods. The seat and back create a unified, geometric shell, with a tall, gently reclined backrest and a wide, comfortable seat. The wicker displays a warm, light honey-brown tone with subtle color gradients, giving each chair a unique, organic appearance. The black metal base, with its straight, slightly splayed legs and subtle cross-bracing, ensures stability while maintaining a visual lightness. Minor traces of patina on the metal and slight irregularities in the wicker weaving are present, consistent with genuine vintage pieces of the era.
