This set of four dining chairs from Belgium, dating from the 1970s, is distinguished by its brutalist form and solid oak construction. The design features robust, straight legs joined with visible dowels and mortise-and-tenon joints, highlighting traditional craftsmanship. Each chair is marked by a high, angular backrest composed of two wide, vertical planks separated by a narrow groove, lending an architectural clarity to the silhouette. The seats are made from thick, flat boards with bevelled edges. The wood is finished in a warm, honey-brown hue with pronounced grain and natural knots, while the surface remains tactile, predominantly matte with subtle satin reflections. The proportions are bold and monumental, conveying a strong sense of solidity and durability. The set is preserved in very good vintage condition, with only minor signs of use and a gentle patina, without major damage or repairs.These chairs speak in the language of the 1970s, when architectural honesty and artisan precision emerged as a response to the decorative excesses of previous decades.
