This set of four Dutch dining chairs from the 1960s is a striking example of the era’s brutalist design, characterized by a distinctly architectural presence. Each chair is crafted from solid oak, with no metal elements, highlighting the traditional woodworking craftsmanship. The design features wide, flat seats with crisp edges, robust, angled legs, and backrests composed of two horizontal, gently curved slats with rounded edges. The overall finish is a uniform, warm honey-toned oak, enhanced by visible natural grain and subtle patina that is accentuated by a semi-matte sheen. The proportions are bold and substantial, with exposed joinery reinforcing the architectural quality of the form. The wood surface is smooth yet retains a tactile, organic texture. All chairs are preserved in very good vintage condition, with only minimal, even patina and no signs of restoration or major damage.These chairs evoke the spirit of Dutch 1960s brutalism, when the strength of material met the clarity of form. Each line, knot, and edge is a reminder of postwar design’s boldness, where monumentality did not preclude everyday comfort.
