This set of four brutalist dining chairs from the 1960s is crafted entirely from solid wood in a warm, medium honey-brown shade. Each chair features distinctive, visible wood grain and subtle tonal variations, enhanced by a semi-gloss finish that brings out the natural texture of the material. The design is robust and angular, characteristic of the brutalist movement of the 1960s: the seats and backrests are thick and gently contoured, with two horizontal slats, the upper one adorned with a decorative wave cut-out. Straight, sturdy legs are connected by horizontal stretchers for increased stability, while exposed screw heads and joinery emphasize the handcrafted, utilitarian nature of the set. The wood surface is smooth to the touch but retains its natural grain texture. The set is in very good vintage condition: minor scratches and a gentle patina are consistent with the age, all components are original with no visible repairs or major damage. These chairs reflect the narrative of postwar Germany, where material honesty and raw form took on new significance.
