ABOUT PRODUCTID 9761
This set of four chairs and two armchairs, designed by Leslie Dandy for the British brand G-Plan in the 1960s, exemplifies classic mid-century modern design. The teak wood frames, finished with semi-matte Danish oil, highlight the natural grain and golden hue of the timber. The construction is defined by clean lines, gently curved backrests with vertical slats, and elegantly tapered legs, while the armchairs feature straight, minimalist armrests seamlessly integrated into the structure. The seats are upholstered in new, tightly woven, deep charcoal gray fabric. Every element of the set demonstrates precise craftsmanship, with concealed joinery and well-balanced proportions, while the ergonomic seat height ensures comfort. Condition: fully restored, no visible signs of wear, with the original character retained. The form of these pieces echoes the voice of British modernism of the 1960s, where clarity of construction and noble materials spoke with a timeless accent. The teak wood suggests stability and understated luxury, while the charcoal upholstery references the restrained elegance of the era. The set seems to narrate a story of gatherings and everyday rituals, in which function and aesthetics are inseparable, and every detail is shaped by the craftsman's care for comfort. This suite would be well suited to a bright living room with a muted color palette, where natural light accentuates the warmth of the teak and the depth of the upholstery. It could be paired with a low solid wood table or a minimalist sideboard, and complemented by a brass-detailed lamp or a geometric patterned rug to highlight the mid-century modern spirit. In eclectic, collector’s interiors, the chairs may be combined with other icons of 1960s design and completed with period graphics or ceramics.
