This set of four chairs, designed by Antonín Šuman for the MIER Topoľčany factory in the 1960s, represents the essence of Central European Mid-Century Modern design. The construction is based on sturdy beech wood, while the curved backrests are finished with ash veneer that displays a distinctive, expressive grain. The organic, oval cut-out in the gently shaped backrest and the slender, tapering legs give the chairs a rhythmic lightness. The monochromatic warmth of the wood is complemented by seat upholstery in a high-quality forest green fabric, providing subtle contrast and tactile comfort. A semi-matte lacquer enhances the natural wood pattern and ensures a refined, cohesive appearance. The chairs have undergone a complete carpentry and upholstery restoration: surfaces are smooth and even, upholstery is professionally fitted, with no visible signs of wear or damage. The set is offered as a complete set of four chairs. Preserved in excellent condition, following full restoration.These chairs evoke the spirit of optimistic modernization in mid-century Central Europe: their form reflects the era’s pursuit of comfort and simplicity, enriched by a distinctive sense of style.
