ABOUT PRODUCTID 17595
This set of four 'Bumerang' type 229XB chairs, produced by the Gościcińska Furniture Factory in Poland at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s, represents mid-century modern Polish design. Each chair is constructed on a solid wooden frame in a naturally warm oak tone, enhanced by a semi-matte lacquer that brings out the wood's grain and texture. The seats are upholstered in a high-quality, light gray fabric with a subtle woven structure, offering balanced visual contrast. Characteristic angled 'boomerang' legs, wide gently curved backrests, and openly crafted joints with visible bolts define the form, reflecting the craftsmanship of the era. Proportions are compact yet comfortable, with low, wide backs and deep seats. Every chair has undergone comprehensive restoration and is in excellent condition, showing no signs of damage or wear and retaining a uniform, authentic appearance. These chairs evoke the voice of 1960s Poland, a time when simplicity met function and attention to craftsmanship was a quiet mark of pride among designers and makers. The angled legs and broad backs recall the spirit of old cafes or family dining rooms, where comfort mattered as much as the ritual of gathering. The calm gray fabric contrasts subtly with the tactile oak frames, as if the materials are engaged in a quiet conversation on domestic stability and calm. The chairs may be paired with a simple wooden table in a light or mid-tone finish, and, complemented by geometric pendant lighting or neutral ceramics, will fit seamlessly within mid-century modern-inspired or refined contemporary interiors. They work well around a minimalist dining table as well as in sophisticated collector’s spaces, harmonizing with glass, vintage graphics, or select geometric textiles underfoot to emphasize the natural warmth of their materials.
