This set of four Cesca chairs, designed by Marcel Breuer and produced in Italy in the 1980s, embodies the essence of Bauhaus-inspired modernism. The construction features polished, chromed tubular steel, seamlessly bent into a cantilevered form without visible screws or joints, emphasizing clean lines and engineering precision. Seats and backrests are set within wooden frames finished in a warm, honey-beige tone with a smooth, satin surface that highlights the natural grain. Both elements are filled with tightly woven rattan cane in a light, slightly yellowish shade, lending the chairs an airy quality and subtle texture. The proportions are balanced, with rectangular seats and backs softened by rounded corners, staying true to the functionalist ethos. The polished chrome contrasts with the organic warmth of wood and rattan, creating a harmonious, visually engaging composition. The overall condition is very good following partial restoration: chrome has been polished, wooden joints reglued, rattan seats replaced, and any losses in the backrest caning repaired.
