This set of four dining chairs, produced by Tatra Nabytok (TON) in Czechoslovakia during the 1960s, exemplifies the principles of Central European modernism, where function and clarity of form prevail. The construction relies on solid oak stained a deep, warm brown with a semi-matte sheen that subtly showcases the natural wood grain. The seats have been newly upholstered in soft, matte velour featuring a geometric pattern in shades of grey, black, and off-white, providing a striking visual and tactile contrast to the smooth wooden surfaces. The backs are defined by a regular arrangement of softly rounded, vertical slats, lending the chairs an airy and transparent appearance. Slender, slightly tapered legs are subtly splayed, emphasizing mid-century proportions and ensuring stability, while precise joinery—without visible screws—attests to the craftsmanship typical of the era.
