This set of four chairs, designed by Oswald Haerdtl for Tatra Nabytok in the 1960s, represents a refined example of Czechoslovakian modernism in the mid-century modern spirit. The construction features slender, gently splayed legs crafted from solid oak with a natural, satin-matte finish that subtly accentuates the wood's grain. The seats and wide, contoured backrests are upholstered in a uniform bouclé fabric, presented in a cool, muted olive green with a distinctly textured, nubby surface and a matte appearance. The characteristic cut-out at the lower section of the backrest, along with proportions that balance visual lightness with functional comfort, create a cohesive whole where no joints or fastenings are visible, underlining the precision and craftsmanship of the piece. Condition: excellent, fully restored – upholstery and interiors are new, wood shows no signs of wear or damage. The form of these chairs tells the story of the 1960s, when Central European designers sought harmony between modernity and everyday practicality. The cool green upholstery evokes a sense of focus and restraint, while the oak elements carry the warmth of home gatherings. Clean lines and well-considered proportions recall an era when pragmatism and refined craftsmanship shaped a new quality
