This set of four No. 14 chairs represents the essence of Viennese Secession style, designed by Josef Hoffmann and manufactured by Thonet around 1900 in Austria. The construction utilizes the innovative bentwood technique, resulting in elegantly curved, flowing lines in both the backrests and slender legs, which are joined by a circular stretcher for stability. The wood is finished in a warm, medium walnut brown with a subtle reddish undertone and a semi-matte sheen that accentuates the natural grain and smoothness of the material. The seats are crafted from woven rattan in a light honey color, offering a delicate color contrast and a sense of visual lightness. All joints are seamless, consistent with Thonet’s bentwood tradition, and no visible screws or metal fittings are present.
