This set of four dining chairs, designed by Philippe Starck in 1989 for the Italian brand Driade, exemplifies the late 20th-century modernist approach with subtle Art Nouveau and organic references. The construction features a blend of cherrywood and pearwood, visible in the warm, honey-brown hue and refined, varied wood grain. The chairs are characterized by slender, high backrests with a gentle wave at the top, seamlessly transitioning into narrow, proportional seats. Elegantly curved front legs, reminiscent of sculptural forms, lend lightness and visual rhythm. The joinery is meticulously executed, with no visible screws or hardware; the edges are precisely finished, and slightly darker tonal accents along the joints highlight artisanal craftsmanship. The overall impression is one of both solidity and refined lightness, achieved through harmonious proportions. The condition is very good—there are only minor surface scratches and a delicate patina typical for late 1980s pieces, with no visible repairs or interventions; all components remain original and authentic.
