ABOUT PRODUCTID 9973
This set of four dining chairs, designed by Oswald Haerdtl and produced by TON in Czechoslovakia during the 1960s, embodies the mature phase of Central European modernism. The construction is based on solid beech wood in a warm, honey-blonde tone, finished in a semi-gloss that subtly highlights the natural grain and reflects light. The backrests are shaped from a single piece of bent plywood, imparting an organic curvature and ergonomic line characteristic of the era. The seats are upholstered in a deep red fabric with a fine black pattern; the matte texture of the textile contrasts with the gentle sheen of the wood. The slightly splayed legs add optical lightness and stability, while precise dowel joints underscore the high quality of craftsmanship. The proportions are balanced—broad, supportive backrests and softly padded seats provide comfort in use. The set is preserved in very good condition, with only minimal traces of age typical for original mid-century furniture
