ABOUT PRODUCTID 19653
This set of four lounge chairs, designed by Pierre Paulin for Artifort in the 1960s, embodies modernist, avant-garde design through bold forms and multicolored upholstery. Each chair rests on a sturdy, square lacquered metal base, color-matched to its individual upholstery. The signature organic silhouette—marked by flowing, continuous lines from the wide seat through the curved backrest and softly contoured armrests—creates a cohesive, sculptural shape with no buttons, seams, or decorative trims. The upholstery is available in four matte shades (subdued olive, vivid purple, deep navy, light gray), and the fabric appears uniform and smooth. Dimensions: width 74 cm, depth 72 cm, height 100 cm. The set is in very good condition, having undergone complete restoration and new upholstery.
These chairs speak in the voice of the 1960s, when bold color and experimental form shaped new standards for modernist interiors. Their gentle curves seem to invite relaxation—as if design could narrate a story of freedom, comfort, and a daring vision of the future. Each color introduces a separate chapter: olive evokes subtle nostalgia, purple stands for creative flair, navy offers calm depth, and light gray brings a sense of freshness and modernity. Together, the set forms a dynamic, sculptural composition that pays homage to the individuality and bravery of the era.
The set would suit a spacious living room with mid-century modern or contemporary avant-garde overtones. It can be paired with a minimalist round coffee table or refined wood, as well as a simple floor lamp with geometric lines. These armchairs are well complemented
