ABOUT PRODUCTID 41864
This set of six Culbutto whisky glasses, designed by R. Eschler for the renowned Moser glassworks in Karlovy Vary, embodies the Central European glassmaking artistry of the 1940s, where craftsmanship merged with material innovation. Each glass is made from neodymium crystal, also known as alexandrite glass, which shifts its hue depending on the light—from cool lilac and gentle violet to subtle greenish and blue notes. The glasses feature a rounded, bulbous silhouette with a wide, stable base that gently tapers toward the rim, while precisely polished edges and bases highlight the hand-blown technique and harmonious modernist lines. The absence of visible mold seams confirms the mouth-blown craftsmanship, and the smooth, glossy surface and noticeable weight of the crystal further elevate their tactile and visual presence. The set is preserved in pristine condition, free of wear, with full clarity and brilliance of the material. These glasses contain the narrative of an era when scientific discovery intertwined with the quiet beauty of everyday objects. The play of light across the polished surfaces evokes a subtle spectacle of color, recalling the postwar fascination with modernity. Each turn of the glass in the hand becomes not only a sensual experience but also a journey into the intimate settings of bygone salons and clubs, where detail mattered and glassware was a carrier of mood and ritual. The Culbutto set may be paired with a classic whisky decanter
