A set of four 'Grand Prix' chairs (model FH 4130), designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen in Denmark, first edition from the early 1950s. Each chair features molded plywood veneered in warm, medium-toned teak with subtle orange undertones. The semi-gloss finish accentuates the natural wood grain, giving the surface a smooth, lightly reflective quality. The distinctive 'butterfly' or 'Y'-shaped backrest, along with four separate, profiled teak legs laminated and attached directly beneath the seat, are unique to this original edition—visually light yet structurally robust. The proportions highlight the organic lines characteristic of Danish modernism. The Fritz Hansen signature on the underside of each chair confirms authenticity. Condition: excellent, with no visible wear or signs of restoration. These chairs evoke the spirit of post-war Denmark: the design speaks with a refined clarity, where function and form coexist without compromise.
