ABOUT PRODUCTID 2537
This set of seven liqueur glasses from Czechoslovakia, dating from 1900–1920, embodies the Art Nouveau approach to decorative glassware. Each glass features a bowl crafted from translucent glass in pastel shades of blue, green, yellow, and pink. The colors blend softly without abrupt transitions, while the glossy surface enhances the luminous quality of the material. The glasses are marked by slender, elegant proportions and profiled forms, complemented by stems of clear glass with a spiral, twisted pattern. Round, stable bases provide balance to each piece. The combination of organic lines and geometric precision, characteristic of the early 20th century, is evident in both the silhouette and the decorative details. The set is exceptionally well-preserved, with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of repair. These glasses seem to whisper the story of the turn of the 20th century—a period when Art Nouveau brought the delicacy of nature and the freedom of the artist’s hand into everyday objects. The pastel bowls, reminiscent of open flower petals, capture and diffuse light gently, lending every toast a subtle air of bygone sophistication. The spiral stem evokes the fluidity of Art Nouveau ornament, while the slender profile reflects the pursuit of harmony and lightness cherished in early modern design. This set could be displayed on a sideboard or within a glass-fronted cabinet, where the pastel tones would reflect natural light. It pairs well with other Art Nouveau-inspired arrangements, as well as more eclectic settings—such as alongside period porcelain or a delicately patterned silver tray. The glasses may also be combined with contemporary glassware or a minimalist tablecloth to highlight the contrast between historical craftsmanship and a modern approach to table décor.
