This set of five nesting tables, designed by Poul Hundevad for the Czechoslovakian manufactory Novy domov in the 1960s, exemplifies Scandinavian mid-century modernism interpreted in Central Europe. The tabletops are crafted from teak wood in a warm, honey-brown tone with a subtle reddish undertone, while the slightly lighter beech wood legs emphasize the construction’s visual lightness. The main table features a rectangular top with gently rounded edges, beneath which four smaller tables nest perfectly, each maintaining proportional harmony. The slender, tapered legs are finished with dark castors, allowing for easy movement. The visible wood grain and precise joinery at the tabletops and legs highlight the set’s craftsmanship. The entire ensemble has undergone comprehensive restoration: the wood has been cleaned, stained in an oak tone, and sealed with a semi-matte lacquer. The set is in excellent restored condition, showing no damage, scratches, or signs of wear. This series of tables echoes the voice of the 1960s, a period when functionality and simplicity were paired with modern refinement. The teak tops—smooth and softly gleaming under the semi-matte finish—seem to invite daily use; their geometric clarity speaks of an era that valued order, light, and readable form. The slender legs suggest ease of movement, while the smaller tables, hidden beneath the main top, recall a time when interiors were designed for flexibility and the needs of the moment. These
