This seven-piece set of pressed glass plates from the 'Asteroid' series was designed by Jan Sylwester Drost and produced by Huta Szkła Gospodarczego 'Ząbkowice' in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland, in the 1960s. The set consists of one large serving plate (24 cm diameter) and six smaller dessert plates (16 cm diameter), all crafted from soda-lime glass, colored in the mass to a saturated, warm amber tone with a luminous, honey-like transparency. The underside of each plate features a relief of irregularly sized bubbles, creating a distinct tactile and three-dimensional pattern that evokes asteroid craters or effervescent fizz. The glossy surface amplifies the depth and brilliance of the amber hue, while the thick, smoothly rounded rims indicate high-quality pressing techniques.
