ABOUT PRODUCTID 15605
This set of three Ball Boy grinders – two for salt and pepper, accompanied by an oblong tray – was created in Denmark in the 1960s, designed by Richard Nissen and Carsten Jørgensen for Bodum. Each grinder is a hand-crafted, spherical form in solid teak wood of a medium, warm brown shade, featuring pronounced organic wood grain and a smooth, silk-matte finish. The distinctive, oval-shaped black knobs are glossy and mounted on brushed metal spindles, adding a subtle touch of contrast. The grinders are set in individual circular recesses on a dedicated teak tray with softly rounded edges, underscoring the unity of the set. At its center, a bowed handle in black-painted metal provides both a striking vertical accent and functional grip, its surrounding arc echoing the curves of the mills. The overall construction reveals high craftsmanship: no visible screws, precise joinery, and refined finishing throughout. The condition is excellent, demonstrating only minimal traces of use and the natural patina of teak, with no evidence of restoration or repairs. These mills speak in the language of Danish modernism from the sixties, when simple, organic forms were married to clarity of function. The warmth of the teak recalls a Scandinavian appreciation for nature, while the glossy black knobs inject a hint of postmodern wit – as if the mills don’t take their role too seriously, lending the table a subtle light-heartedness. Arranged side by side, they resemble playful pawns lined up for a casual game, injecting a spirited, yet purposeful, energy into each meal. The set would suit not only mid
