This set of six dining chairs from 1960s Belgium exemplifies the bold language of brutalist furniture, where substantial oak frames are paired with handwoven, thick natural wicker seats. The deep, warm brown of the oak contrasts strikingly with the golden-beige wicker, establishing a distinct interplay of textures. The high backrests, composed of three wide, horizontal slats secured with visible metal bolts, reinforce the utilitarian and honest design ethos. Straight, sturdy legs, joined by horizontal stretchers, ensure stability, while the subtly curved front seat rails soften the geometric lines of the silhouette. The proportions are balanced, emphasizing durability and solidity. The set is preserved in good vintage condition – minor signs of use are present, such as slight wear on the wicker and small marks on the wood, but no major damage or repairs.
