This set of six Abanica dining chairs, designed by Oscar Tusquets for Aleph in 1988, is a refined example of late 1980s postmodernism. Each chair features a slender, dark bronze lacquered metal frame with a slight sheen, contrasted by a matte, handwoven natural wicker seat and fan-shaped backrest in a warm, honey-brown hue. The signature 'abanico' motif is evident in the geometric, flared lines and the distinctive fan-like back, giving the chairs their sculptural and architectural presence. Triangular bracing beneath the seat and flared feet reinforce the postmodern aesthetic. The seats are generously wide, and the gently curved backrests offer a comfortable sitting experience. Exposed metal joints and visible fastenings highlight the craftsmanship and structural integrity of each piece. Each chair is marked with the manufacturer’s and designer’s signature. The set is in very good overall condition, with only minor signs of use and no damage or repairs. The Abanica chairs evoke the voice of the late 1980s, when postmodern design embraced both bold geometry and a renewed respect for craft. With their fan-shaped backrests and tactile wicker weave, these chairs seem to narrate an era where formal experimentation met the warmth of hand
