The set of six Abanica dining chairs, designed by Oscar Tusquets for Aleph in 1988, represents a mature example of late 1980s postmodernism. Each chair is built on a slender, dark brown lacquered metal frame with a subtle satin sheen, creating bold geometric lines and a stable silhouette. The seat and distinctive fan-shaped backrest are hand-woven from natural rattan in warm, honey-brown tones, displaying gentle gradations from golden to medium brown that emphasize their organic character. Architectural precision is highlighted by triangular reinforcements beneath the seat and flared leg ends, while visible metal joints and exposed fastenings underscore the craftsmanship and structural honesty.
