ABOUT PRODUCTID 9393
A set of six dining chairs designed by Erling Torvits for the Danish manufacturer Sorø Stolefabrik in the 1960s exemplifies the refined Scandinavian mid-century modern aesthetic. The frames are crafted from rosewood, displaying a varied grain pattern with tonal transitions from deep brown to reddish hues, all finished in a semi-matte Danish oil that highlights the natural wood texture. The seats are newly upholstered in matte black natural leather, with gently contoured cushions for added comfort. The backrests consist of three gently curved horizontal slats, seamlessly integrated into the frame. The slender, straight legs are joined with precise joinery, with no visible hardware, emphasizing craftsmanship. The set underwent comprehensive restoration, including new upholstery and refinished wood, preserving the authenticity of the original design. The set is in restored condition – with no visible signs of wear or damage. These chairs echo the voice of Danish modernism from the 1960s: Erling Torvits pursued a form that tells of the balance between function and understated decoration. The rosewood, with its expressive grain, forms soft lines reminiscent of Scandinavian landscapes, while the black leather evokes an image of simplicity and durability. Each
