ABOUT PRODUCTID 26643
This set of six dining chairs from the 1960s is a German example of Brutalist design, where robust form is paired with meticulous craftsmanship. The construction is based on thick, rectangular legs and broad stretchers, emphasizing a strong geometric silhouette. Made of solid oak in a warm, medium brown tone with a semi-gloss finish, the chairs highlight the natural wood grain and subtle irregularities. The backrests feature two horizontal slats, the upper one with hand-carved, wavy cut-outs that introduce interplay of light and shadow. The seats are upholstered in a light gray, finely woven synthetic fabric that contrasts subtly with the depth of the oak and offers a tactile, textured surface. All joinery is traditional mortise and tenon, visible and sturdy, with no additional fittings or metal elements. The set is in good condition – only minimal signs of use typical for its age, with no major damages or restoration interventions. These chairs narrate the story of the 1960s – a period when the power of raw material gained the courage of sculptural expression. The monumentality
