The set of six 'Rennie' dining chairs, designed by Kazuhide Takahama for Studio Simon in Italy during the 1970s, presents a refined example of Italian postmodern design. The construction is based on substantial wooden frames lacquered in a deep, cool brown, extending seamlessly into flat, rectangular panel legs. Both the seats and the tall, rectangular backrests are upholstered in genuine leather with a semi-matte finish, its surface showing a subtle sheen and fine natural grain. The chairs are marked by bold proportions: wide seats and exceptionally high backrests underscore a monumental presence, while the clean, geometric lines highlight the architectural intent of the project. The craftsmanship is precise, with meticulous upholstery seams and smoothly integrated wooden joints, free from visible hardware. The set retains its original finish and period patina.
