This set of six dining chairs from the 1980s is a distinct statement of postmodern, space age inspiration. The structure is based on precisely finished wood—the seats and tall, sculptural backrests are lacquered in a crisp white with a matte or semi-matte surface. Strong, contrasting black lines accentuate the geometric silhouette, lending the set a graphic, architectural rhythm. The legs are made of robust metal, painted deep black to form an angular, contemporary base. Characteristic vertical and diagonal divisions and the stepped, tiered finish at the top of each backrest highlight the futuristic intent of the design.
