ABOUT PRODUCTID 31159
This set of two decorative wall plates, signed by the Włocławek and Koło ceramics factories, stands as an authentic example of Polish utilitarian ceramics from the 1970s. Each plate measures 24 cm in diameter and is crafted from glazed faience with a glossy finish. The first plate features a warm, creamy beige base adorned with hand-painted floral motifs in shades of brown, pink, and blue, surrounded by a border of stylized flowers and dots. The second plate offers a cooler palette: a creamy base with blue and green flowers accented by brown, and a rim decorated with blue berries and green leaves. Both designs are rooted in folk art, with symmetrical, organic forms and soft, rounded lines. Visible brushstrokes and hand-painted details emphasize their artisanal character. The plates are in very good condition: smooth, glossy surfaces with no chips, cracks, or repairs, and only minimal signs of age—such as subtle crazing or gentle wear to the glaze.
These plates speak with the voice of everyday Polish life during the PRL era: ornaments draw from folk traditions, yet their restraint reveals the influence of postwar modernity. The balance of colors and motifs evokes the rituals of family gatherings, when wall decorations served as a quiet backdrop to domestic stories. Each line and hue carries the calm and gentle optimism of the 1970s, while the hand-painted surfaces seem to whisper of the patient craft traditions of Włocławek and Koło.
The set can be hung above a low sideboard in the living room,
