ABOUT PRODUCTID 28632
This set of two modular storage cabinets by Flötotto from the 1970s exemplifies German functionalist design, characteristic of mid-century modern and modular furniture. The structure is based on a solid beech wood frame in a light, honey-toned finish with a subtle satin sheen. The main surfaces of the doors and sides are finished in matte brown HPL (Formica), creating a gentle contrast with the natural hue of the beech. The corners are highlighted by round, muted metallic connectors, adding a technical, industrial accent, while the flat, unadorned doors are fitted with circular, recessed handles in a dark tone. One piece is a tall, narrow container with a door, shelf, and clothes rail; the other is a lower, wider unit with a door and shelf. The overall form is strictly rectangular and geometric, with robust, precise joinery throughout. The brown panel surfaces are smooth and even, while the beech frame displays a fine, natural wood grain. The set is in very good condition following restoration – the finish is even and well-maintained, with no visible damage or signs of heavy use. These cabinets echo the story of 1970s German design, where functionality and clarity of form were paramount. The minimalist lines, visible connectors, and matte brown surfaces evoke a designer's studio focused on construction logic
