ABOUT PRODUCTID 35125
This set of two ceramic mugs from Bornholm Ceramik, Denmark, dates back to the 1960s and embodies the mid-century modern and Scandinavian approach to design. Each mug features a cylindrical form with a gently flared rim and rounded base, lacking handles in line with the era's minimalist aesthetic. The lower half is unglazed, matte, and sandy beige with a speckled, slightly rough stoneware texture, while the upper half is finished in a glossy, deep olive-green glaze. Hand-painted abstract organic motifs in earthy browns and reds, accented with hints of yellow and blue, enrich the glazed section. The transition between the glazed and unglazed areas is organic and slightly irregular, underlining the artisanal, handmade nature of the pieces. Each mug bears the manufacturer's signature. The set is preserved in very good condition, with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs, and displays authentic traces of handcrafting and subtle variations in glaze. The listed price refers to two mugs. These mugs echo the narrative of Danish craftsmanship from the 1960s—a time when everyday objects became a platform for individual artistic expression. The rawness of the stoneware merges with the vividness of the glaze, while the organic color transitions evoke the spirit of Bornholm, an island where ceramic tradition intertwined with modern design. Their form speaks in the voice of simplicity, respect for material, and a touch of creative freedom characteristic of the Scandinavian design school: “No need for excess embellishment—light, touch, and the daily gesture are enough.” This set would complement a bright, minimalist kitchen or a vintage-inspired wooden
