ABOUT PRODUCTID 27648
This pair of Art Deco nightstands from the 1930s exemplifies the craftsmanship of the era through the combination of Macassar ebony and Portoro marble. Each body is veneered in ebony, displaying a striking, striped grain in deep brown and black tones, finished with a high-gloss lacquer that enhances the natural wood pattern. The tops are made from genuine Portoro marble, predominantly black with dramatic golden veining and occasional light inclusions and microfossils—each piece featuring a unique stone pattern. The design is distinctly geometric, with a bold cubic silhouette characteristic of Art Deco. Black lacquered plinth bases and small square metal knobs complete the composition. Each nightstand includes a single drawer and an open shelf beneath, showcasing the continuous wood grain across the fronts and sides. Materials and seamless joinery reflect meticulous attention to detail; proportions are balanced and compact. The nightstands are in very good condition for their age, showing only minor signs of use such as small surface scratches and a natural patina. The marble tops are intact, with no structural cracks and only natural variations typical for this stone; the veneer is free of major defects. These nightstands evoke the spirit of an era
