ABOUT PRODUCTID 30416
This set comprises two Montparnasse vases by Cristal d'Arques (Durand), crafted in France during the 1970s and 1980s, using high-lead crystal (approx. 24% Pb). Both vases feature cylindrical silhouettes with pronounced vertical fluting, creating a striking architectural rhythm. A central band of faceted diamond cuts encircles each vase, introducing a decorative break and intensifying the prismatic play of light. The surface is flawlessly smooth and glossy, while thick, substantial bases underscore their quality and stability. The vases exhibit pure transparency, free of color accents, embodying the geometric precision and classic Art Deco inspiration integral to the design. The proportions—23 cm high by 8 cm in diameter for the larger vase, 17 cm by 6.5 cm for the smaller—make them versatile both as decorative objects and functional vessels. The set is preserved in very good vintage condition: free from cracks, chips, or cloudiness, with only minimal, natural signs of age.The Montparnasse vases tell the story of French glassmaking mastery, where light and material engage in an ongoing conversation. Their geometric, balanced forms evoke the spirit of late 20th-century Parisian modernism, while the prismatic effects across the facets recall the luminous mosaics of Art Deco. Every detail—from the reassuring weight in the hand to the measured rhythm of the vertical flutes—reflects a commitment to transforming utilitarian objects into quiet stages for light and shadow. These vases could be displayed on a marble countertop or a modernist
