ABOUT PRODUCTID 5338
This antique sewing table (niciak), dating from around 1860, embodies the late Biedermeier style prevalent in Northern Europe in the second half of the 19th century. Its construction is anchored by a solid mahogany tripod base with gracefully curved legs and a central, turned pedestal tapering elegantly towards the bottom. The circular tabletop opens on a brass hinge to reveal a compartmentalized interior, with several sections divided by light wood slats and finished with small, white knobs. The high-gloss finish accentuates the deep, warm reddish-brown hue of the mahogany and showcases the natural grain. The table combines practical storage for small accessories with decorative appeal, serving as an example of Biedermeier-era craftsmanship. It is preserved in excellent condition after professional restoration; the surface is smooth, free from visible damage, and all original hardware and interior details remain intact and well-maintained. Within this compact form, the echoes of a bygone century are clearly felt—the table tells a story of an era when domestic handiwork was a daily ritual and every detail carried significance. The Biedermeier simplicity and flowing lines evoke
